A French School in Dhaka : French International School of Dhaka

The school was established in 1987. It was built on the ground of the French Embassy in a pleasant part of the diplomatic zone of Baridhara. It is near the residential districts where the majority of the expats live. The French International School of Dhaka enjoys a good reputation.
The French School's mission is to educate children who wish to follow the French National Curriculum. The program ensures that the children have the possibility of continuing a school course in France in educational establishments accredited by the French Ministry of Education and in any of the other French school establishments abroad.
Nowadays, French schools are committed into providing high quality bilingual teaching from the earliest age in order to enable children to be equally confident in both language.
The School is directed by an assigned French Director of the French Ministry for National Education. The school is inspected every year by an Inspector of National Education stationed in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
The school is run on a private basis, as a non-profit organisation, as officially agreed with the AEFE (Agency for French Teaching Abroad). It is one of the 410 French establishments abroad which make up the network of the AEFE. It is under supervision of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
The school is managed by the School Board which is made up of parents of the students and is governed by French Law. The Board is directed by a Steering Committee (CA) which lays down the policy and procedures of the school to ensure effective management.
The Council of School (CE) is chaired by the Director and adopts the rules of procedure and defines the objectives of the school.
The Steering Committee (CA): Its role is to ensure the effective administration, financial management and appropriate operation of the school. It encourages and promotes liaison between the parents and the staff of the school. It meets once per month, and, advises and assists with the management of the school. It is composed primarily of parents of the students who are elected at the assembly of parents which meets at the beginning of the school year.
